RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS
The Carnes Weeks Center houses our
20-bed intensive residential program for
men and women 18 years of age and older
from across Connecticut.
Intensive treatment comprises individual
and
group counseling, alcohol and other
drug education, family participation, and
introduction to 12-step recovery programs.
The length of the program varies and
depends on each client's needs, with a
maximum stay of 30 days. More.
McCall House is a 14-bed, coed,
intermediate residential substance abuse
treatment program. Residents are at least
18 years old and most have completed an
intensive treatment program; however,
residents may come from other sources.
Residents benefit from a structured program designed to help them transition back to their communities.
The average length of stay is 10 - 12 weeks. More.
Fenton and Warner Houses provide accommodations for men referred by the criminal justice system to participate in McCall's intermediate recovery programs. Treatment is designed for men on probation or parole who need to strengthen their recovery from alcohol and other drug abuse before returning to their communities and resuming life on their own. OUTPATIENT PROGRAMS
McCall's outpatient programs include traditional individual counseling and more intensive treatment involving structured individual, family, group counseling; and mental health services. In addition, the program includes alcohol and other drug education and introduction to 12-step program resources.
Outpatient services are provided at both our Torrington site at 58 High Street and our satellite office at 231 North Main Street, Winsted. More.
PREVENTION PROGRAMS
McCall's prevention staff offers a variety
of prevention initiatives on site, in the
community, and in area schools. The
DMHAS funded SMART Moves Program
for children and youth strengthens kids'
ability to communicate, succeed, and
resist pressure to use tobacco, alcohol
and other drugs.
Our Strengthening Families Program
is a family skills training program designed
for 6-12 year old children and their parents.
The curriculum includes three courses
taught in fourteen two-hour sessions.
The Parent Education and Assessment
Services Program
, funded by DCF, assists
families reunite after a child has been
placed outside the home temporarily and
reinforces their ability to remain together.
Another DCF funded effort, The Positive
Youth Program
, helps kids and their families who have recently moved to the Torrington area handle the pressures of relocating.
McCall's prevention specialists assist area schools in the development of student assistance programs that help students who show behaviors of concern. Staff facilitate the tobacco-alcohol-other-drug focused Insight Program that supports these school-based programs.
McCall has been the lead agency in the development of the Stop Underage Drinking Coalition's advocating for stronger enforcement of laws targeted at teenage alcohol abuse. More.
